I guess I'm writing a blog now.

Greetings! And Welcome!
No, I never thought that I would ever make “my own” website, or share it with anyone for that matter. To be quite honest, launching this little number was product of a little thought and a large spontaneous whim. A few people have told me in the past (mostly family, friends, teachers, etc.) “You should totally start your own business.”, “You could make some money doing _____.”, “Ever consider selling that?”, “That’s pretty neat.”, “You could be famous one day.”, “You really like doing that, don’t you?”, “Is your family artsy too?”
I appreciate the kind words; However,
No. I have not begun my own business. I’m terrible at math, and numbers are not my friend. This is mostly common knowledge, ask my second grade teacher, where my battle with subtraction began.
No. I have not made jaw dropping amounts of money creating. I ain’t no Turner, Tchaikovsky, or Lewis. Although, these are all individuals, artists, musicians, and writers whom I greatly admire.
You’re right, I don’t really sell my work, although I should consider it. College debt is among one of the many vivid realities in my life.
No. I’m not famous, and I don’t consider myself one who would desire to be so. The introvert’s greatest fear is to be known by the entire globe (At least, I would think).
But yes, I do enjoy what I do, that’s why I keep on doing.
Yes, and no. I would say that my family is about 1/3 artistic skill, 1/3 creative visionaries, and 1/3 straight up intimated by the “arts”. A majority of them would not consider themselves artistic at all in the sense of the word. However, I owe much to them for fostering the creative and loving environment that I have grown up in, and have been surrounded by (Queue all of the sappy thank you’s, old photos, and childhood memories).
I create because it is a part of who I am. It is how I relate to the world, it’s how I share, and listen to stories. Creating has been my way of translating complex truth, deep sorrow, unspeakable beauty, searing pain, overflowing joy, and simple curiosities. I also make because I was made by a Wonderful Maker, and it is among my deepest desires to bring all glory to Him in all that I do.
So, turns out this “little number” isn’t just a “large spontaneous whim”, but a reflection of my need to live for something greater. Greater than having my own business, making bank, becoming world renown, enjoying myself, or inheriting family traits. Although these are all great things, they aren’t my primary cup of tea (I prefer green tea, steaming, plain, and in a cat mug if possible). I am created to give glory to The One who created me, and to point others to Him along the way.
If you consider me crazy, that’s alright, I’m already aware. :)
Thanks for stopping by, stay for a bit, tell me your story. I’m a life time learner in the field of listening, and am in constant need of practice.
“Life, like art, is a shared experience. All we can do is to expect not to have all the answers, hope to ask the right questions, and move bravely into the brokenness of people’s lives. As that happens, a world full of mystery, truth, beauty, and wonder opens.” – Douglass C. Mann
